I learned to play go at the Oxford City Club, and nowadays play at the Portland Go Club. I came to go after having played chess for many years, which might explain why I agree with this description of the game from the chess master Edward Lasker:

While the Baroque rules of chess could only have been created by humans, the rules of go are so elegant, organic, and rigorously logical that if intelligent life forms exist elsewhere in the universe, they almost certainly play go.

I'm also interested in computer go, and have implemented a Monte Carlo go playing engine called Gomi.
